Brisbane’s Sheppard are continuing to build on a stellar 2014 after managing to achieve such milestones as the highest selling Australian single for 2014 with ‘Geronimo’, four amazing album launch shows, sold-out headline shows at London’s Barfly, New York’s Webster Hall and LA’s The Lyric Studio, and festival performances at V Fest and Electric Picnic in the UK.
Today, the band have added another landmark achievement to their resume, with their US television debut confirmed for October 20th via entertainment behemoth The Ellen DeGeneres Show. With the Geronimo EP out now in the US, the band’s international smash-hit single ‘Geronimo’ is currently rising rapidly in the US Alt Nation Radio Airplay Charts where it achieved a #3 Position this week over the likes of The Black Keys, George Ezra and Manchester Orchestra.
In just a couple of months on the road, the band have hit the top 10 in Ireland, #1 in Italy, #3 in Austria, and #4 in Poland with “Geronimo” becoming the third most played video in Spain and an addition to major national radio networks in Denmark, Sweden and Germany, where ‘Geronimo’ also debuted at #16 in its first week. In other territories, “Geronimo” has also hit the iTunes Top 5 in New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia and The Philippines, not to mention a #14 Position on the Asian Pop 40 Charts. This week has also seen ‘Geronimo’ achieve a #44 position on Shazam’s Global Most Shazzamed Tracks Charts. Sheppard have already confirmed their next European campaign, with November performances confirmed for the UK, Ireland, France, Holland, Italy, Switzerland and Germany.
"It’s been an absolute whirlwind travelling from Europe to the US, playing to new audiences and meeting our incredible international fans. To hear that we’ve even been considered for opportunities like Ellen completely blows us away” said George Sheppard. “That said, we can’t wait to finally touch down back home and see our Australian fans again!”
The band’s international success follows the mammoth reception Sheppard have received at home in Australia under the guidance of Michael Chugg, who has now confirmed global partnerships with Scooter Braun, Steve Strange and Martin Tibbetts in the UK and US. “Geronimo” has recently achieved four times platinum certification in Australia, while the band’s debut album "Bombs Away" has attained gold status while maintaining an ongoing position in the ARIA charts since release.
The band’s Spring Tour of Australia will see them playing a handful of regions for the first time since the release of their now gold album “Bombs Away” as well as return visits to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, with a newly announced all-ages Melbourne show at The Gasometer just added.
