Multiple Grammy and ARIA Award winner Keith Urban’s Light The Fuse Tour Australia will begin on June 14, and Nine Live together with Chugg Entertainment are happy to announce that chart-toppers Sheppard will open the national tour as support act.
Sheppard are currently sitting atop the national ARIA charts with ‘Geronimo’, one of the year’s biggest hits that has been smashing radio playlists around the country in just a month since its release. The ARIA and iTunes #1 hit single ‘Geronimo’ is the first track from Sheppard’s highly anticipated debut album to be released in July, and comes after Sheppard’s development into one of the biggest Australian acts on commercial radio in 2013.
“The last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind for us and now to get this invitation from an artist we respect as much as Keith is so humbling,” said singer George Sheppard. “Keith is one of those artists you look up to as a band starting out in Brisbane. He's a perfect example of how hard work and tenacity can pay off no matter where you’re from.”
Sheppard’s rise over the last two years, first with last year’s platinum hit ‘Let Me Down Easy’ and now with ‘Geronimo’ has been even more impressive given their status as an independent and self funded act, becoming the first indie to hit the top of Australia’s charts in a decade.
Keith Urban’s Light The Fuse Tour Australia is an all-new show that will feature first-time performances of new music from Urban’s #1 album ‘Fuse’, alongside many of his biggest hits. ‘Fuse’ simultaneously debuted at #1 on the mainstream charts in Australia, the US and Canada on its release.
Urban recently led the male contingent at the 49th annual Academy of Country Music Awards, picking up a total of three awards in two categories. He won Vocal Event of the Year as both artist and as producer for “We Were Us” with Miranda Lambert, as well asVideo of the Year as artist for “Highway Don’t Care” with Tim McGraw and Taylor Swift.
