SHEPPARD CONCEPTUALIZE WHAT FALLING IN LOVE LOOKS LIKE AS ‘SYMPHONY’ STARTS TO MAKE WAVES GLOBALLY

SHEPPARD RETURN WITH A VIVID NEW MUSIC VIDEO AS STREAMING NUMBERS FOR ‘SYMPHONY’ TAKE OFF.

If you’re lucky enough to know the elated and euphoric feeling of meeting someone who’s electrifying, then you might see some truth in Australian band Sheppard’s latest kaleidoscopic music video. Taking on the challenge, the band endeavoured to explore a visual representation of what to most cannot be described… the feeling of falling in love.

Having released their brand new single to the world in June, Sheppard have returned to release an animated and iridescent new music video for certified pop hit ‘Symphony’, as streaming numbers climb by the hundreds of thousands in Australia, Europe and the Americas.

From the United States to Russia and Japan; from as far north as Canada and as far south as New Zealand, Symphony’s streaming numbers continue to rise, following an eerily similar trajectory to the band’s global number 1 ‘Geronimo’ and proving that Australian band Sheppard are back, in a big way.

Written in December 2019 during a song writing trip to LA with hit makers The Orphanage (frequent collaborator with Demi Lovato, Alessia Cara), Sheppard’s latest single ‘Symphony’ is

an unashamedly joyous pop song, teeming with their reliably polished hooks, smothered in infectious melodies and bursting with overwhelming euphoria.

There’s not a single minor chord in this song, just a massive, uplifting declaration of loveSaid George Sheppard. “Our previous singles from the upcoming release have all been love songs, but with hints at deeper, more serious topics. On Symphony, we wanted to go all out and write a huge, stadium sized pop song”.

In order to match the intensity of ‘Symphony’ and accurately bring their symbolic vision to life, Sheppard called on Gold Coast based creatives Bleo, to unveil a music video that was brimming with colour, movement and bursting with both heart and humour.

When you’re in love all the colours of life appear brighter, happier and more lively.” Said Amy SheppardSo, for the “Symphony” music video, we wanted to capture the experience of falling in love and what that would look like if you could see it. We felt that integrating animation into the clip was a fun and vibrant way of portraying “Love”.

A person with Synaesthesia will often experience something called joined perception where they can see and sometimes even smell the music they’re listening to.” Said George Sheppard “This idea was a major inspiration for the music video as we speculated what love would look like if you could actually see it!”

With Australia’s creative industry in limbo due to COVID-19, Sheppard called upon their real-life partners to star, alongside an all-local crew; from hair and makeup, to directors, film crew and editors. “COVID-19 has had a huge impact on those working in the creative field Said Amy Sheppard. “So, we wanted to make sure that we were hiring as many local creatives as possible for this shoot!”

For band members and siblings George, Amy and Emma, Brisbane plays a much bigger role in the music video than just an arbitrary backdrop. “We were lucky enough to all find love in Brisbane” Said Emma Sheppard “So, it only felt natural that our beautiful home city should be showcased as the setting of the new video”.
