Sydney act The Griswolds dropped their new album “Be Impressive” for iTunes pre-order this week upon the news that they are steadily climbing the US alternative radio charts, landing in the top 40 of the Mediabase Alternative radio charts with over 200 spins across the country for their new single “Beware the Dog”.
Currently #25 on Spotify’s Viral chart, cracking the top 5 in the global Hype Machine blog charts, clocking up nearly half a million spins on Soundcloud and getting strong support from Triple J here at home, the track is taking the band to new heights of success as they currently criss-cross the US on a 30+ date tour before heading home in September.
The album “Be Impressive” has also gone live for pre-order at iTunes with the new album track “Down and Out” available exclusively to fans who jump in early. Serving up another slice of electro-infused indie-pop, “Down and Out” continues to deliver the anthemic-indie sound The Griswolds are known for, this time crossed with dark and personal undertones.
“This song took a long time to get right, because the lyrical direction we wanted to take it in was really heavy”, lead guitarist Daniel Duke-Perez says. “The music had to really do its best to compliment the lyrics, without turning into a heart-aching ballad – we took the traditional synth pop-hook we heard a million times before, and twisted it into an entirely different, heavier context.”
The album, which is released on August 22 in Australia through Chugg Music / MGM, was recorded under the guidance of American producer Tony Hoffer (The Kooks, Beck, M83, Ladyhawke). It will receive a global release the same week via Wind Up Records.
